Nottingham Forest manager Billy Davies has told Forest Player of his delight after completing the loan signing of Sunderland’s David Vaughan. The midfielder yesterday carried out his first training session with The Reds after penning a deal until 29 January, and his new boss is excited by what the 30 year old brings to the table.
The Reds manager said: “I’m delighted to welcome David on board. There’s no doubting his ability or experience. He’s got a fantastic track record, great energy and a wonderful left foot.
“One thing we do need to have in the middle of the park is more competition, so we’re delighted to have him here. It’s all about fighting for places. No matter who we bring in, they’ve got to earn the right to have the jersey.
“We are bolstering positions with very good players for what will be a tough Christmas and New Year period.”
Vaughan could make his debut against his former club Blackpool at The City Ground on Saturday, where the Forest boss hopes to witness an upturn in fortunes for his side.
He said: “You would have to say, having created over 50 chances in our last two matches, having missed penalties and open goals, having had a very good Darius Henderson goal disallowed against Bournemouth, we have been a little unfortunate.
“But that will even itself out over a long season. We remain focused and calm through the wins and we do the same through the draws and defeats.
“We will keep working away.”
