Nottingham Forest defender Jamaal Lascelles says his confidence is ‘growing by the game’ following a Man of the Match display in the draw with Burnley.Speaking to Forest Player after the game, Lascelles admitted that he is improving with every passing week and that his excellent partnership with Jack Hobbs is giving The Reds a solid platform on which to build.
He said: “After every game I play I feel my confidence building. Things are starting to come naturally to me now and that’s because of the game time I’m getting.
“Jack and I have got a good partnership at the back. Burnley have a dangerous front two but I think we handled them really well. I’m massively proud to win the Man of the Match award as well.”
Lascelles has won many admirers for his committed performances in recent weeks and although the 19 year old has been disappointed not to find the net in that time, he is aiming for both personal and team success when Reading visit The City Ground on Friday.
He said: “We’re happy with the performance but frustrated not to get the three points. We’re on a high though and we’re ready to go and get the win against Reading on Friday night.
“I’m getting closer to scoring as the weeks go on. I’m getting my head to them but just need to try and get them in. Hopefully I can do that on Friday night and help get us the three points we need.”
