Nottingham Forest captain Chris Cohen has told Forest Player that The Reds can ‘put down a marker’ against table-toppers Burnley on Saturday.Forest currently sit eight points adrift of The Clarets but Cohen says Saturday’s clash presents the players with a golden opportunity to close the gap on their opponents, a team they faced in the Capital One Cup just two months ago.
He said: “You always want to beat the teams around you. We feel like we should have taken more points from our previous few fixtures but we have an opportunity now to put down a marker in our season.
“Burnley play a very exciting brand of football and do it very well so I’m sure it will be an entertaining game. Having already played them this season we know how they’ll set up and we’ll be ready.”
The Reds go into the game on the back of an excellent 2-0 victory at Leicester and Cohen says that he and his teammates must use the result at The King Power Stadium as a springboard for a good run of form.
He said: “To get the win against Leicester was massive. We’re looking to get more consistency in our form and we know that if we can put a run of results together then it will take us into the automatic promotions places.
“We’ve failed to put teams away on a few occasions this season and that is something we have to improve on. In this division anyone can beat anyone and we know that we have to be at our best to beat Burnley on Saturday.”
