Reds Head To Germany

15 May 2013

Nottingham Forest will take an Under 19s squad to Germany on Friday to play in the Youth Tournament of Ergenzingen.

The squad will mostly be comprised of members of this season’s FA Youth Cup team, and interim head of Academy Gary Brazil is eagerly anticipating the trip.

He said: “This tournament will be a really good way to end the season with our Under 18s group. We’ve had an excellent year and we want to finish on a high.

“Since the Youth Cup semi-final, the boys have been training hard in preparation for a friendly against Coventry which took place as part of our recent auditing process.

“We won the match 4-0 and we are now looking forward to travelling to Germany on Friday – the lads will really enjoy it.

“It will provide them with yet more valuable experience of playing tournament football where winning and losing really matters.”

Eight teams will go into two groups and the matches will be split into 25-minute halves.

The top and bottom two from each group will then progress to a playoff style knock-out phase on the final day.

Forest’s schedule is as follows:

Saturday: Freiburg (4.50pm)
Sunday: RB Salzburg (1.50pm), Kaiserslauten (7pm)
Monday: Semi-finals and final.

The second group is made up of Feyenoord, BSC Young Boys, FSV Mainz and Ergenzingen.

Nottinghamforest.co.uk will have regular updates from the trip.
