Cox Wins Goal Of The Season

4 May 2013

Simon Cox has won the 2012-13 Nottingham Forest Goal of the Season award sponsored by Benoy for his stunning effort against Birmingham City.

The strike, which also scooped the 2012 Mitre Goal of at the Year at this season’s Football League Awards, was the runaway winner in the eyes of Forest fans.

Cox has emerged as a popular figure amongst supporters in his first season at The City Ground and he was thrilled to receive the award.

He said: “I’m very happy – I think it’s probably the best award I’ve ever received.

“I was unlucky to miss out a few years ago with a goal I scored for Swindon against Walsall. I lost by one vote and that really hurt. But people voted for me this time and I’m thankful for that.”
