Double Delight For Reds

25 March 2013

Nottingham Forest pair Simon Cox and Dimitar Evtimov scooped accolades at this evening’s Football League awards ceremony in London.

Cox’s astonishing touch-and-finish in The Reds’ 2-2 draw with Birmingham won him the Mitre Goal of the Year, while Evtimov’s exceptional efforts both on the training pitch and in the classroom earned him the title of LFE Apprentice of the Year.

The pair are currently away on international duty but Forest education officer Dennis Judson and Cox’s father, David, were on hand to pick up the awards on their behalf.

Cox’s goal was deemed superior to the efforts of Mark Hudson (Cardiff), Sam Byram (Leeds), Nick Powell (Crewe - now Manchester United) and Josh Wright (Millwall), while Evtimov, a Bulgarian Under 21 international goalkeeper, saw off competition from Huddersfield’s Duane Holmes and Watford’s Bernard Mensah.

Nottingham Forest would like to extend its congratulations to both players.
