New Nottingham Forest signing Eric Lichaj has insisted that he is ‘focusing on the future’ after penning a two-year deal at The City Ground. The 24 year old was released by Aston Villa after helping them to Premier League safety last season and the American is now looking forward to beginning a new chapter as a Red.
He said: “I was disappointed not to play more games for Villa last season but that’s in the past – I want to focus on my future with Forest.
“My agent told me just before the season ended that Forest were interested and it feels good to have finally signed – it’s nerve-racking being a free agent and I’m very happy to come here.
“Hopefully I can help the team and the fans to take us back into the Premier League.”
31 top flight appearances is certainly a valuable commodity, but equally significant is the USA international’s experience in the Championship.
He made 16 appearances for Leeds United in the 2010-11 season and hopes his time at Elland Road will allow him to re-adjust quickly to life in the second tier.
Lichaj said: “I know how the league is played and how the players are. I think I’ll be able to adapt very well.
“I’m just looking forward to the season’s start.”
