Interim head of Academy Gary Brazil believes his Nottingham Forest side’s pre-season trip to Portugal was ‘very worthwhile’ and had many ‘pleasing outcomes’.The Academy squad took part in a number of training sessions and friendly matches during a stay which Brazil insisted was no walk in the park.
He said: “It was nothing like a holiday! It was tough for the guys and you’ve got to remember these are young boys coming out of school.
“They put a lot of effort in and we got a lot of stuff out of it. We, as staff, learnt a lot more about the players after being with them 24/7 but we know, arriving back home, what we have to do with these boys.
“We took key members of staff along with us and we got a lot of work done in the evenings so that we didn’t waste any time. We did a lot of work with the education, nutrition and sports science departments so that the boys were being educated both on and off the field.”
