Nottingham Forest striker Matt Derbyshire was happy to get on the scoresheet during last night’s 1-1 draw at Chesterfield.
The 27 year old gave The Reds the lead at The Proact Stadium with a neat finish and he admitted that he is pleased with how his pre-season schedule is progressing.Speaking after the match, he told Forest Player: “I want to show the fans how much it means to me to be a part of this team. I’ve had a long talk with the manager and I really want to prove myself at Nottingham Forest, which I know I can.
“To get a goal tonight was fantastic and I want to repay the faith that the manager and the supporters have shown in me.
Derbyshire failed to make a Forest appearance last term, but the former Olympiacos man is confident that he can stay fit and become a vital part of Billy Davies’ squad in the forthcoming campaign.
He said: “I’m putting everything into this pre-season and hopefully things will keep going well, I can stay injury-free and prove that I can be a success at Nottingham Forest.”
