Up For The Challenge

25 January 2013

New Nottingham Forest striker Darius Henderson has set his short-term sights on breaking into the first team at The City Ground.

The forward, who yesterday put pen-to-paper on a deal until the end of the season, admits there is stern competition for places up front but that he is looking forward to the challenge of establishing himself on Trentside.

Henderson said: “We’re in a good position – it’s going to be hard to get in the team because we’ve got some good strikers here, but I’m looking forward to that challenge and if I can score the goals that matter I’ll be delighted.

“I was introduced to all the boys yesterday so it was my second day today and I’m thoroughly looking forward to the rest of the season.

“I know Andy Reid, Billy Sharp, Dan Harding and Greg Halford from previous clubs and a few of the others from playing against them over the years, so I haven’t really come in as a stranger.”

And Henderson hopes that, if selected, he will prove to be the thorn in his old club’s side tomorrow afternoon.

“I had three good years at Watford but if I get a chance tomorrow hopefully I can help us on the way to a win – they’re doing very well at the moment and someone needs to beat them.”

Adult tickets for Saturday’s game against Watford are available from just £18 and are on sale via all the usual outlets – in-person at The Ticket Office, on-line at www.nffcretail.com or by calling 0871 226 1980 (calls are charged at 10p per minute, mobile rates may vary).
