Privileged Pete

3 January 2013

Nottingham Forest’s new deputy manager Peter Grant has spoken of his delight after teaming up with Alex McLeish for a third time.

The Scot had previously worked with his compatriot at Birmingham and Aston Villa and is thankful to his old colleague for presenting him with a way back into the game.

Grant said: “I feel really privileged because it’s an opportunity to work for another European Cup-winning team – not many people will get that chance in their lives. I’ve been very fortunate and can’t thank Alex enough. Hopefully it will be a major success.

“I’ve had fantastic experiences in England – good and bad, but you’ve got to use them in a positive way and that’s what I have tried to do. This is another fantastic challenge with a great bunch of players.

“Alex is very passionate – he wants to win. The trophies he has won tells you that. He’s got a strong mentality and demands the best from his players because he respects the support of every club he has worked at.

“If the players give him the commitment they’ll be alright – he’ll then try to work with their talent.”
