Peterborough Preview

10 January 2013

Alex McLeish will be hoping for his first win as Forest boss when Peterborough visit The City Ground for Saturday’s Kids for a Quid fixture (kick-off 3pm).

The Reds will be keen to bounce back from a disappointing defeat and performance against Oldham in the FA Cup last weekend but face resilient opposition in the form of Darren Ferguson’s side.

The Posh boss was furious with the performance which resulted in their cup capitulation against Norwich last Saturday, but prior to that they had racked up consecutive league wins over Wolves, Cardiff and Bolton before they brushed aside Barnsley on New Years’ Day.

Elliott Ward goes straight back into McLeish’s squad after re-joining The Reds on loan from Norwich.

And he’s likely to return to the starting line-up as well in place of suspended skipper Danny Collins, who must serve a one-match ban after his sending-off in last weekend’s cup defeat by Oldham.

Daniel Ayala (hamstring) and Adlene Guedioura (away on African Cup of Nations duty) remain unavailable, while McLeish will also check on Andy Reid, who limped out of the cup game with a groin problem.

Peterborough bolstered their ranks this week by signing Manchester United youngsters Scott Wootton and Davide Petrucci on loan for the remainder of the season.

Both defender Wootton, who had a spell on loan at The City Ground last season, and midfielder Petrucci are expected to figure in Darren Ferguson’s plans on Saturday.

But Posh will be without Gabriel Zakuani, who is at the African Cup of Nations with Congo, and the suspended Lee Tomlin.

Bryn Gunn

The full back came on as a substitute as Nottingham Forest secured their second successive European Cup in 1980.

Over the course of an 11-year spell he made 131 league appearances for The Reds and spent time on loan at Mansfield Town.

He joined this weekend’s opponents, Peterborough, in 1986 and racked-up an identical number of appearances before moving to Chesterfield three years later.

Bryn will be visiting The City Ground hospitality areas as the club’s VIP guest at Saturday’s game. For more information on hospitality packages please call 0115 982 4450 or email hospitality@nottinghamforest.co.uk.
