Derby fan Carole Saywell was £2,000 richer this Christmas thanks to her husband’s devotion to The Reds.Rex Saywell was a life-long fan of ours before he sadly passed away in March as he was receiving radiology treatment for cancer.
His love for the club extended to him being a supporter of the Forest Foundation, which raises money for The Academy.
And following his death – he was a well-loved man by not only his family but a large circle of friends – Mrs Saywell, who lives in Arnold, continued to pay her dues to the Forest lottery without realising what it was all about.
But just before Christmas she discovered all about the Foundation when she was informed by Dane Lowe, of Foundation agents MSR, that she had won a £2,000 jackpot prize.
Said Mrs Saywell: “Everyone in the family as well as his friends still miss Rex terribly – we would have been celebrating our golden wedding anniversary in February. He was a lovely man and it’s nice to know that he is still looking after me – even after he has gone.”
