Eyeing-Up Elliott

7 January 2013

Alex McLeish has revealed he wants to bring Elliott Ward back to The City Ground.

The 27 year old Norwich City central defender made 12 Championship appearances for Forest during a two-and-a-half month loan spell that ended after the 2-2 draw with Crystal Palace nine days ago.

But new manager McLeish is exploring the possibility of securing his services in another loan deal with a view to a permanent switch.

McLeish has seen his side concede eight goals in the three games since he succeeded Sean O’Driscoll, including three in Saturday’s shock FA Cup exit at the hands of League One Oldham.

And he says: “We need to look at the defensive situation. We were looking at central defenders prior to the game and we certainly will now.

“We are looking at Ward. That is a situation that is on-going. We are talking to Norwich about that one.

“We want to get him back, it is possible, but it depends on the kind of deal that can be done.

“We are probably looking at another loan, just so I can have a look at him, perhaps with a view to making it more permanent beyond that."
