Nottingham Forest have completed their third signing of the January transfer window by landing Darius Henderson from Millwall. The experienced front man has joined The Reds for an undisclosed fee and follows the loan arrivals of Elliott Ward and Gonzolo Jara Reyes earlier in the month.
Henderson, 31, has signed a contract until the end of the season and is poised to make his debut against Watford, one of his former clubs, at The City Ground on Saturday (kick-off 3pm).
Chairman Fawaz Al Hasawi said: “We are delighted to have brought a player of Darius’ experience to the Club.
“He knows all about the Championship and has also played at the highest level in England as well and I’ve no doubts he will be a great addition to Alex McLeish’s squad.”
Henderson launched his career as a trainee with Reading before graduating to the first team where he scored 11 goals in 71 league appearances.
After a loan spell with Brighton he joined Gillingham and bagged nine goals in 36 league appearances. He also had a temporary period with Swindon before joining Watford.
He played in the Premier League for The Hornets and scored a total of 29 league goals from 105 appearances.
Henderson then spent three seasons with Sheffield United – where he returned 20 goals from 72 league outings – before joining Millwall in the summer of 2011.
He topped their scoring charts in his first season at the club with 15 goals – including home and away strikes against Forest – and has contributed seven goals to their cause this term, including one against The Reds in Millwall’s 4-1 win at The City Ground in November.
