Alex McLeish insists he is eagerly anticipating the latest of his derby day experiences as a manager. The Reds boss has taken charge of sides in Glasgow, Edinburgh and Birmingham derbies but is excited about the challenge awaiting him at Pride Park on Saturday (kick-off 1pm).
He told us: “I’m looking forward to it – I love the atmosphere in derby games and I know that this one is as feisty as they come.
“Let’s hope the players control themselves and the referee does not have to deal with anything that we don’t like to see on a football pitch.
“You have to keep your emotions in check in any game – let alone ones like this.
“I’m really positive about the match but I know Nigel Clough will be thinking exactly the same – they have home advantage and have taken the bragging rights in recent fixtures.
“But there is no reason why we can’t go there and get a favourable result.”
