Nottingham Forest manager Alex McLeish believes that Darius Henderson’s arrival has put the finishing touches on an already-imposing strike force at The City Ground. The experienced striker has joined The Reds after they paid Millwall an undisclosed fee for his services.
And his new boss believes he will be the perfect fit for the system he is trying to implement at Forest.
McLeish said: “I think he’s a handful. We want to try and get more crosses into the box and obviously we have Dexter – but I think it’s right to have four strikers at this level. If we can rotate them all to good effect there’s no reason why Darius can’t make a big impact, as he has done over the last couple of seasons at Millwall.
“I don’t want the fans to get the impression that we’re about to start playing back-to-front football – we’ve got good passers of the ball here, but if we can get into good crossing positions and we’ve got people like him and Dexter in the middle with the likes of Sharp, Cox and Majewski feeding off the scraps we will be a big threat.”
And McLeish admitted that the signing of Henderson will not mark his final foray into the market this month.
He explained: “I still think we need another couple of players – we’re there or thereabouts in terms of threatening the top six but I’d still like another one or two, without necessarily having to spend crazily, to take us up a step.”
Darius’ player sponsorship is now available for £417 + VAT for the second half of the season. To book or for more information call Corporate Forest 0115 982 4450 or email firstname.lastname@example.org.
