Lead professional development coach Gary Brazil was pleased with his Nottingham Forest Youth Cup side’s performance in last night’s 3-2 win over Huddersfield at The City Ground.First half goals from Derrick Otim (2) and Morgan Ferrier put the game beyond the visitors and Brazil was pleased with the manner of the victory.
He said: “It was a longer night than we hoped it was going to be because I thought some of our play was excellent in the first half and much closer to what I would expect from this group of players.
“It was really pleasing to see us pass the ball properly, some of our movement was just too much for Huddersfield to handle and our goals were just reward for some very good football.
“We always knew that they would come at us more – we spoke about it at half time. It was slightly disappointing that we didn’t take the opportunity to get the ball moving as well as we did in the first half and we didn’t really ask much of their goalkeeper after the break.
“But those who came along and saw the first half will have seen us play some really good football and I’m looking forward to seeing how we fare against another good side in the quarter finals.”
Chairman Fawaz Al Hasawi said: “I was delighted when I heard the news that the youngsters had clinched their place in the quarter-finals of the FA Youth Cup.
“I had hoped to be at The City Ground for the game but other issues made that impossible.
“The youngsters and their coaches deserve a great deal of credit for reaching the quarter-finals for the second successive year. This is a great achievement I am really proud of.”
