Nottingham Forest have announced the appointment of Gary Brazil as the Club’s interim Academy manager until the end of the season.Brazil, who recently guided The Reds to their second consecutive FA Youth Cup quarter final, will take on the management of the club’s esteemed Academy with immediate effect.
Chairman Fawaz Al Hasawi said: “I am thrilled that Gary has agreed to take on this new role at Nottingham Forest.
“Behind every successful football club lies a thriving Academy and I am sure that Gary will have a positive impact straight away.
“This season’s FA Youth Cup exploits have proved that we have the foundations already in place and we hope that, under Gary’s guidance, the first team will soon benefit from that.”
Forest manager Billy Davies welcomed the appointment.
He said: “I am absolutely delighted that Gary has agreed to take on this role. The first team and the Academy will work very closely together so our older and younger players can integrate, learn from each other and share their experience.
“I very much look forward to working with him and his people.”
Brazil also spoke of his delight: “It’s an exciting opportunity. I am really looking forward to getting my teeth stuck into the role.
“There is a lot of opportunity within our Academy and I’m looking forward to putting my own blueprint on it.
“I spoke with the gaffer, Ned Kelly and the owners this afternoon but there will be a lot of on-going conversation between us and the staff at The Nigel Doughty Academy. We’ve got some good people at this club who I will draw very close to me.
“Our ultimate aim is to develop players who will be able to make a big impact on Billy’s squads in years to come and we are determined to make that a reality.”
