Chosen Charity For Bolton

12 February 2013

Integritas Advocacy Ltd - Protecting and promoting the rights of vulnerable people in the heart of their communities.

Integritas Advocacy is a local, free advocacy service that supports vulnerable adults in the areas of St Ann’s, Sneinton and the city centre of Nottingham.
Vulnerable adults are people who cannot manage daily life without some help and as a result are often subject to bullying and harassment within the community.
Integritas provides vital help to these people who are vulnerable and in need and who in many cases, are without the support of family and friends.  Many have mental health issues, often undiagnosed and are brought to the attention of Integritas following repeated calls to emergency services or anti-social behaviour.
Not only can Integritas help people access much need resources, but given the direct link between mental health issues and anti-social behaviour, this early intervention can help create safer, more inclusive communities.  By aiming to ensure individuals become more self-reliant and have appropriate people to turn to for support in a time of need, pressure and costs to the Emergency Services can be reduced.
Integritas has helped over 70 people to improve their lives; from helping them complete benefits forms and changing GPs to more complex negotiations surrounding care, neighbourhood disputes, domestic violence and drug and alcohol abuse.
Integritas was formed as a community interest company in November 2006 and became a registered charity in March 2012.  It is led by a Board of Trustees which is made up of a mixture of mental health service users and professionals, as is the staff team who are all dedicated to preventing people reaching crisis point and helping them live happier, more fulfilled lives.
Integritas is an independent charity and receives no statutory funding.
