Billy Davies liked what he saw from his Nottingham Forest side in this afternoon’s 1-1 draw with Bolton at The City Ground.Andy Reid had fired The Reds into a second half lead but substitute Craig Davies was on hand to level the scores on 77 minutes.
Forest, who had dominated the vast majority of the game, were given a boost when Marcos Alonso was sent off for a second bookable offence late on.
But there was to be no late drama and the Scot’s return ended in stalemate.
Davies said: “We had 23 shots today and they had five. We should have taken the three points but I was delighted with our performance. We created a host of chances and I can’t complain with what the players gave us – they were unlucky not to have scored more.
“If you analyse the game, one mistake cost us the two points. But the learning curve is there and I’m absolutely delighted with the efforts of the players.
“They know exactly what we want from them and they have responded well to that. We’ll dust ourselves down after today - we’re disappointed not to win but overall very pleased with the performance.”
