Nottingham Forest manager Billy Davies praised his side after they claimed ‘an excellent three points’ in tonight’s 2-0 win over Queens Park Rangers at The City Ground.A goal in each half from Greg Halford and Andy Reid was enough to seal the win for The Reds and push them back up to 5th in the Sky Bet Championship table.
And despite missing a number of key players, including Simon Cox to a virus, the Forest boss was delighted with his side’s showing at both ends of the field as they recorded a fourth clean sheet on the bounce.
He told Forest Player after the game: “I thought it was a fantastic performance against a very strong side. We nullified QPR’s strengths and stopped their very talented players from playing. We created a number of chances and scored two wonderful goals.
“Credit must go to the boys for another superb clean sheet and for an excellent three points. I thought we were magnificent from back to front tonight and I’m as much delighted with the clean sheet as I am with the goals.”
The Reds have now gone almost 400 minutes without conceding but the manager says he will not be allowing the players to become complacent ahead of Sunday’s crunch clash with Leeds United.
He said: “We’re not going to get carried away with this result. It is only three points and we’re still in December. What we need to do is keep building and this certainly gives us a good base.
“We want to stay in the mix until January and kick on from there. The season is all about consistency and we are starting to string a run of results together. It is important now that we take our good form into Sunday’s game and try and pick up another three points.”
