Brain Over Brawn

28 December 2013

Billy Davies says the strong character of his Nottingham Forest side could be crucial in Sunday’s Sky Bet Championship clash with Leeds United at The City Ground (kick-off 3pm).

The Reds welcome their West Yorkshire counterparts for another match in the gruelling Christmas schedule but, as he told Forest Player after the Boxing Day victory against Queens Park Rangers, the manager hopes his side’s attitude will give them the edge on Sunday.

He said: “We’re no different to any other club. We all have to play the same number of games. This is all about mental strength now, not physical strength. We have the character in the group to handle that and we look forward to another very difficult match.”

Forest produced a superb performance to claim victory against The Hoops and the manager is hoping for more of the same against Brian McDermott’s men.

He said: “It’s another tough game, but when we play the way we did against QPR, with that work ethic and belief, we are able to nullify and create chances against very good sides.

“Another important three points are on offer but I’ve said all along that we need to stay in the mix until January. We’ll see what we can do in the window and then look forward to the final third of the season, when it’s all about consistency. That’s when things are won and lost.”

The club are advising supporters to purchase Leeds tickets in advance to avoid matchday queues and potential disappointment. Go to www.nffcretail.com, call 0871 226 1980 (calls cost 10p per minute, mobile rates may vary) or visit the Ticket Office.
