Nottingham Forest manager Billy Davies has praised his squad’s ‘commitment and desire’ ahead of Saturday’s Sky Bet Championship trip to Wigan Athletic. His side have started the season in tremendous form and they will be looking to put the finishing touches to a magnificent month with victory at The DW Stadium.
The Reds’ blistering run is made even more impressive after a quick glimpse of the fixture list – they have so far dispatched promotion hopefuls Blackburn and Bolton and they came agonisingly close to victory at Watford’s Vicarage Road on Sunday.
And their manager is delighted with the spirit shown by his team up to now.
The Reds boss told Forest Player: “The fans can see effort, application, commitment and desire – the players are giving their all for the jersey.
“It’s nice to have come through some very difficult games and we’ve picked up some excellent clean sheets – barring an individual error against Millwall with minutes to go we would have had another on Wednesday night.”
It’s not just a hectic end of the month on the pitch – off it, the transfer window is entering its busiest period as Monday’s 11pm deadline looms ever closer.
The manager admits there are irons in the fire, but he is adamant that his main focus rests on Saturday’s game.
He said: “We’ll keep looking. We are taking phone calls on a daily basis and we’ll see what the next few days bring.
“The most important thing is to emerge from Wigan undefeated. Then we can concentrate on the last few days of the window.”
