Nottingham Forest’s versatile defender Greg Halford has told Forest Player that he thoroughly enjoyed playing a striker’s role in Saturday’s 3-0 win over Bolton Wanderers. The 28 year old played alongside Jamie Mackie in the victory over The Trotters and felt more than comfortable leading the line.
He said: “I absolutely loved playing up front. Everyone knows how much I enjoyed coming on against Wolves last year and helping create a couple of goals - it is something that I relish.
“I’ve been trying to nail down a position for years but it doesn’t really seem to be happening. To be honest, as long as I’m playing, I won’t complain about where I play.”
Forest have made their best start to a Championship season for 16 years, a factor which Halford believes has boosted squad morale, and he stated that the players are looking forward to Sunday’s top-two clash at Watford.
The former Portsmouth man said: “Confidence is sky high in the camp at the moment and when you get on a winning run it is hard to break - hopefully that will continue in the next few weeks.
“Watford have started the season like they ended the last, scoring plenty of goals, so it will be a really tough game but we believe we have the capability of picking up three points.”
