Davies On Huddersfield

2 August 2013

Reds manager Billy Davies has told Forest Player that he expects a ‘fierce and fiery’ contest with Huddersfield Town in tomorrow’s Sky Bet Championship season-opener at The City Ground (kick-off 3pm).

Both sides will be looking to start their season with a bang and Davies knows Mark Robins’ men will pose his side a major test tomorrow.

Davies said: “It’s an opening day fixture – it will be fierce, fiery and exciting. We respect every opponent we face and know that this will be a very tough game.

“We’ll work very, very hard and we’ll get the fans right behind us. The supporters will be very important both at home and away again this season.

“With their wonderful backing and with the attitude and application we’re seeing from the players at the moment, it’ll be interesting to see where it takes us.”

A long season lies ahead for Davies and his players, but the Scot has a very clear idea of what he wants to achieve this season.

He said: “The expectation has to be the playoffs, minimum. We will certainly target a top six finish again.

“We know we have some very difficult opposition – you could name a lot of clubs. Every single team will be very well prepared, well organised and difficult to beat irrespective of how much they’ve spent, their reputation or their history.”
