Cox Out Of Ewood Trip

9 August 2013

Nottingham Forest striker Simon Cox will miss tomorrow’s trip to Blackburn Rovers after he picked up an ankle injury in the midweek Capital One Cup win over Hartlepool United.

Manager Billy Davies confirmed that the Republic of Ireland international, who scored six goals last season, will be absent for the next few matches.

Speaking to Forest Player, Davies said: “It has been confirmed that Simon has ankle ligament damage and we’ll probably be missing him for a number of weeks now, which is massively disappointing.”

Cox joins Dexter Blackstock, Jamaal Lascelles, Simon Gillett and Marcus Tudgay on the treatment table but the manager is confident that his squad have what it takes to cope with the pressures of the busy schedule.

He said: “Those four boys have all picked up little strains and problems but that’s why you carry a strong squad to cope with the tough times that the Championship throws at you.”
