Nottingham Forest striker Simon Cox is close to returning to full fitness after playing an hour against Millwall in the Capital One Cup on Wednesday night.Forest manager Billy Davies revealed that the Irishman came through the cup clash unscathed and could be in contention to face Wigan Athletic on Saturday.
Speaking to Forest Player, the Reds boss said: “The Millwall game was very important for Simon as he needed to get some minutes into his legs. He came through the game with no problems and that is excellent news for us.”
A number of Forest players made their first appearances of the season against The Lions and the manager admitted he was pleased to see them get some game time under their belts.
He said: “There were a few stiff bodies on Thursday morning after the lads played 120 minutes of football but none of them picked up any serious injuries so it was a successful night’s work for us.
“Considering some of the performances that were put in on Wednesday night, it certainly gives me a selection headache ahead of the game at Wigan, but that’s a very good problem to have.”
