Derby Defeated

17 April 2013

Nottingham Forest’s Under 21s beat Derby 1-0 at Moor Farm this afternoon.

A first-half Simon Gillett thunderbolt was enough to secure The Reds a win over their rivals.

Khaled Al Rashidi kept a clean sheet on a windy afternoon, and Under 21s coach Charlie McParland was pleased with his side’s overall performance.

He said: “We played very well in difficult conditions against a strong Derby team. I thought we were excellent in the first-half but we came up against the wind after the break and didn’t pass it as much.

“We were stretched to our limits because of the Youth Cup game last night, but everyone who played gave it a good go and it was a fully-deserved victory for us.”

Team: Al Rashidi, Sebastiao, Lascelles, Regan, Gregory, Gillett, Grant (Thomas 60’), Osborn, Petravicius, N’Kusu Landu, Elliott (Polimos 80’)

Scorer: Gillett 33’
