Family Care has been working in Nottingham supporting vulnerable children, young people and their families for over 125 years. As a registered charity they find families for children needing adoption, and support children and young people who have experienced a significant bereavement and/or domestic abuse, as well as providing safeguarding training to other organisations to keep children and vulnerable adults from harm.
Family Care’s friendly, welcoming team is made up of skilled practitioners in social work, art, play therapy, counselling and trauma studies.
All the children that Family Care support have experienced significant trauma and change in their lives. The work that Family Care do strives to give them positive futures by giving them safe, secure environments and enabling them to explore their feelings and emotions.
Family Care has never been more needed than it is today, with demands for their service continually increasing.
With 4,000 children in the UK with plans for adoption, they need to find more people who are able to give a child/children stability, love and a forever family.
They also need to reduce the waiting list time of six months for the bereavement and domestic abuse work, so they can reach out to the children and young people when they need them most and offer them individual support.
