Nottingham Forest manager Billy Davies has issued a rallying cry to supporters ahead of Saturday’s crucial npower Championship clash with Barnsley at The City Ground (kick-off 3pm).The Reds have three games left to secure a playoff spot and Davies hopes that the Forest faithful can have a big impact in driving his team over the line.
He told Forest Player: “My message to the fans is clear - if they do what they do really well, they can be a big help to this group on Saturday.
“They will be so important in helping us get the three points. I ask that they stay positive, get behind the team and give encouragement to every single player.”
After a scintillating start to Davies’ second spell in charge, The Reds have stuttered slightly of late.
But the Scot has consigned his side’s recent run to the history books and has set his focus firmly on the next three matches, beginning with Saturday’s match against Barnsley.
He said: “Previous results don’t matter now – all that’s behind us. If, 12 games ago, somebody had said to the staff, players and fans of this football club that we would be one point off the playoffs with three games to go, two of which are at home, we would have bitten their hand off.
“The cup is very much half-full and we’ve now got to look forward to the next three games.”
