Stonebridge Farm

10 September 2012

Our selected charity for the Birmingham City match this Saturday is Stonebridge Farm.

Stonebridge City Farm Visitor Centre is a registered charity and has been established for more than 30 years offering a wide range of therapeutic and learning opportunities via animal husbandry, gardening and the different aspects of running a visitor attraction. It is a unique working farm based in St. Ann’s, Nottingham.

The overall aim is to improve the lives and well-being of a range of people by empowering disadvantaged people, developing the community around us and protecting the local environment.

Stonebridge Farm have a long-established commitment to accepting and valuing people with a range of different challenges including learning and physical disabilities, mental health issues, exclusion from school or work, recovery from addiction and caring responsibilities.

They offer supported work placements, work experience, training courses, alternative education, workshops and events based around therapeutic horticulture and animal husbandry, a variety of volunteering opportunities to support placements in catering, retail, horticulture, animal care, reception maintenance and visitor centre customer care.

Visitors enjoy close interaction with farm animals and information about local wildlife, beautiful gardens, a peaceful ‘countryside’ environment with accessible pathways, a children’s playground and picnic area, an affordable cafe and small shop, special community events, celebrations and open days, free access 364 days a year (we only close on Christmas Day).

The farm is an oasis and safe haven near the city centre and brings different groups together as a working team or community with shared interests.

To make a donation to the farm using JustTextGiving simply text NFFC01 and the £__ amount to 70070.
