Coach Steve Chettle was full of praise for Nottingham Forest’s players after they eased to victory over arch rivals Derby in the Under 18 Professional Development League. The Reds ran out 3-1 winners at Derby’s Moor Farm training complex over the weekend. Jack Blake scored twice, while Michael Hollingsworth set the seal on a convincing win with a third goal late-on.
Chettle told us: “We started very well. We played a little bit more direct to try gain possession of the pitch, which we did and managed to play well when we had the space to play.
“We scored after 16 minutes after great work by Josh Thomas and Derick Otim, who cut the ball back for Jack Blake to score from 12 yards out.
“We scored again on the stroke of half-time. Otim, who played really well up front on his own, again did well and Blake cut inside a central defender before curling a shot beyond the goalkeeper.
“Derby were a little bit more physical and direct in the second half and we had to weather a little bit of a storm.
“But we got a deserved third goal nine minutes from time from a corner which saw Michael Hollingsworth score from a yard out.
“The only disappointment was the fact that we conceded in the fourth minute of added time.
“But we did really well – we looked stronger, battled better and played better than them.”
