Nottingham Forest’s Under 21s lost 2-1 at Birmingham City this afternoon, but Academy Director Nick Marshall was upbeat about the performance. The Reds, who handed starts to Karl Darlow and overage players Jonathan Greening, Chris Cohen and Robbie Findley, went 1-0 down after they failed to clear a free-kick delivered towards the near post and the ball fell to a Blue shirt in the box.
Forest responded, and a good move from the back resulted in Morgan Ferrier slotting home an equaliser.
And they could have gone ahead just before half time. Chris Cohen’s burst in to the box earned the visitors a penalty, but Findley saw his effort saved by former Reds loanee Colin Doyle.
After the break, the hosts continued to look dangerous from set pieces and they re-took the lead from a corner.
Marshall said: “There were some positives for sure. We had a really good go and probably deserved something from the game, but we’ve got to deal with set pieces better.”
