Academy Director Nick Marshall was in Estonia to witness Forest youngsters Kieran Fenton and Ben Osborn make their England Under 19 debuts on Wednesday night.England ran-out 3-0 winners in their opening Euro qualifier and Marshall was pleased with what he saw from the pair.
He said: “Kieran started at left back in a system which didn’t really use wingers, so he got forward a lot.
“Estonia were very defensive and dropped really deep. It was the perfect introductory game, he got loads of the ball and wasn’t really tested defensively – although when he was he did fine. He looked very comfortable throughout and put in a super cross in for the third goal.
“Ben came on at half time and played almost as a central midfielder, which he’s not really used to, but he did well. He kept getting on the ball and playing it simply. I think he will probably start the next game against the Faroe Islands, while Kieran may be rested.
“They are both enjoying it. It was good for them to experience a different kind of football, it was very different to what they are used to with the academy.
“Overall, it was a very comfortable introduction to international football for them both.”
