Hard Working Henri

14 September 2012

Henri Lansbury is working overtime to make up for lost time and regain full fitness.

Nottingham Forest swooped to sign the England Under 21 international midfielder from Arsenal last month.

He checked-in at The City Ground nursing an ankle problem that forced him to miss most of pre-season but is close to a return to full fitness, according to boss Sean O’Driscoll.

Lansbury is unlikely to be involved tomorrow when The Reds meet Birmingham at The City Ground (kick-off 3pm) but O’Driscoll told us: “He has looked bright in training.

“Henri didn’t get a pre-season and he’s working really hard within reason to get his fitness levels up.

“We could work him and work him but then he would be too tired to do anything else.

“He comes in early morning to do some work on his own and then after he has trained with the other lads he does some more work as we try to get him as near to full fitness as we can in a short space of time.”

Striker Simon Cox is hoping to figure against Birmingham, despite limping out of the Republic of Ireland’s friendly win over Oman on Tuesday with a foot injury, while Billy Sharp and James Coppinger are pushing for their full debuts.

Marcus Tudgay, who has been sidelined recently by a groin problem, may return to the Forest squad.

Tickets are still available for tomorrow’s npower championship clash with Birmingham (3pm). To buy, visit The City Ground megastore, click here to book online, or call 0871 226 1980 (calls cost 10p per minute, mobile rates may vary).
