Kuwaitis have already taken Nottingham Forest to their hearts, according to the Club’s Director of Recruitment and Scouting Keith Burt.He experienced at first hand the fervour for football – and Forest – when he visited the home country of the new Forest owners, the Al Hasawi family.
Burt and manager Sean O’Driscoll flew to the Arab state earlier this week to watch Bader al-Mutawa and Khalid al-Rashidi in action for their respective clubs after the pair had trials at The City Ground.
And Burt told Forest Player: “We were greeted with enthusiasm and made to feel really, really welcome.
“The people of Kuwait love football and, thanks to the owners’ standing in the country, they know all about Nottingham Forest.
“Everyone seems to talk about Forest – we even had people come up to Sean and I on plane over there when they realised where we were from.
“People wanted to talk about the players from Kuwait who have been on trial with us and also about our new signings.
“They are obviously following our fortunes over there with real relish and it really surprised me just how knowledgeable they already are about Nottingham Forest.”
