Nottingham Forest have completed the signing of Norwich City central defender Elliott Ward on emergency loan. The 27 year old is committed to The Reds until December 29 and will be available for tomorrow’s game against Barnsley at Oakwell (kick-off 3pm).
Boss Sean O’Driscoll made a move for Ward after Daniel Ayala sustained a hamstring injury at Blackpool that could keep him out for up to three weeks.
Chairman Omar Al Hasawi said: “Once it became clear that Daniel would miss a number of games we felt it was important to add to our defensive options.
“Elliott has great experience having played in the Premier League with Norwich last season and will be a valuable addition to our squad.”
Ward launched his career with West Ham and made 18 league appearances for the East London club.
He had loan spells at Peterborough, Bristol Rovers and Plymouth but his career really gathered pace with Coventry, for whom he made more than 100 league appearances.
He’s no stranger to O’Driscoll having had a spell on loan with Doncaster in 2010.
He joined Norwich later that year and was a member of their promotion winning squad in 2011.
A serious knee injury sidelined him for six months but he re-established himself as key figure at the heart of their defence in the second half of last season.
