Steve Chettle’s Under 18s ran out 6-2 winners away at Crewe Alexandra on Saturday. They got off to a dream start when Jack Blake scored direct from a corner in the first minute.
Michael Hollingsworth’s twelfth minute volley then found the top corner, before he added a second after a good, direct run to the edge of the area on 39 minutes.
The hosts pulled one back immediately after Jordan Palmer-Samuels had made it 4-0 thanks to good work by Ari Kamaneno, and the Congolese turned provider again 15 minutes later to set up Derrick Otim.
Blake’s second on 79 minutes rounded up the visitors’ scoring, although there was still time for the hosts to add another consolation in the shape of a last minute free kick.
Chettle said: “Overall, I was pleased with the result. There were some positive performances and we stuck to our game plan. They worked really hard throughout and the scoreline could have been even greater.”
