Fourteen year old Tom Gamblen marked his debut for Nottingham Forest's Under 18s with the opening goal against Wigan.
Gamblen set Forest on their way to a 2-0 win in the Professional Development League by bagging the opening from close range, while Wilfried Gnahore doubled the lead just before the break with a fantastic 25-yard free kick. The result was particularly pleasing given the fact Forest rested a number of key players ahead of today's Under 21 game with the same opposition.
The Reds adopted a new formation and handed full debuts to Gamblen and Jake Mulraney, who has recently helped Ireland Under 17s to a successful European Championships qualifying campaign.
Forest also had three schoolboys playing, two of which were under 15, so the fact that they kept a clean sheet and that we were the better team throughout was hugely encouraging.
