Held Twice By The Blades

1 October 2012

Back-to-back games for Nottingham Forest against Sheffield United at Under 18 and 21 level resulted in draws.

The Under 21s drew 1-1 at Bramall Lane today, after Saturday’s Under 18s contest finished all-square at 2-2.

The 21s came from behind to claim their point, courtesy of a super Kieron Wallace free-kick.

The Reds starting line-up included no fewer than three trialists and Academy Director Nick Marshall told us: “We looked a little disjointed in the first half.

“But we changed it around at half time and it was much better in the second half in terms of keeping the ball and getting forward more.

“Overall, I was pleased with the performance, especially considering we were unable to call upon Morgan Ferrier, Jordan Palmer-Samuels, Kieran Fenton and Ben Osborn.

“16-year-old Derrick Otim had to play up front on his own, despite playing the full game for the 18s on Saturday, and considering we had players out of position all over the park it was a good result in the end.”

The 18s came from behind twice with goals from Deimantas Petravicius and Elliott Ackroyd and also hit the woodwork four times and had an effort cleared off the line.

Marshall added: “We should have won the game by three or four. We were unhappy with the performance – considering the standard the lads have set themselves, they have got to do better.”
