O’Driscoll Appointed Manager

19 July 2012

Nottingham Forest are delighted to announce the appointment of Sean O’Driscoll as the Club’s new Manager.

He makes a welcome return to The City Ground having had a successful five-month spell at the club last season as First Team Coach.

The club’s majority shareholder Fawaz Al Hasawi said: “We interviewed many well-known and high profile figures but none of them impressed us as much as Sean O’Driscoll.

“Sean’s passion for Nottingham Forest, knowledge of the game and the Championship in particular, plus his work ethic, shone through in our conversations.

“He is hugely respected, not only by members of our current squad and staff at the Club for his work in helping transform our fortunes last season, but also within the wider football community.”

The former Republic of Ireland international forged an impressive reputation as a manager and coach during five years in charge of Doncaster.

He guided the South Yorkshire club to promotion to the Championship in 2008 and also led them to glory in the Johnstone Paint Trophy.

As a player, O’Driscoll made more than 600 appearances for Fulham and Bournemouth. He launched his managerial career with Bournemouth in 2000 and three years later steered them to promotion to the then Second Division.

Fawaz Al Hasawi added: “We are delighted to welcome Sean back to the Club. He has our total support and we are looking forward to a long and successful relationship.”
