Forest’s first team were back at the Academy for the start of pre-season training today.Boss Steve Cotterill, his assistant Rob Kelly and the other members of the coaching staff put the seventeen -strong group through their paces as preparations formally began for the new season.
The day started with a thorough stretching session led by physios Steve Devine and Andy Hunt. Lee Camp and Karl Darlow then joined up with goalkeeper coach Paul Barron, while the outfield players took to the turf for some ball control exercises, before enduring a set of lung-bursting long distance runs.
Encouragingly, Chris Cohen - who suffered a season-ending knee injury against Derby last September - looked in good shape, emerging as one of the front-runners alongside the likes of Chris Gunter and Guy Moussi.
The Reds’ pre-season campaign kicks off with their tour of America, where they will play Orlando City (July 21) and Charleston Battery (July 28), before returning to home soil for friendlies against Aston Villa (August 4), Notts County (away- August 7) and West Bromwich Albion (August 10).
Meanwhile, former Reds captain Luke Chambers has today completed his free transfer switch to Championship rivals Ipswich Town.
