Chris Cohen has returned to match action after 10 months on the Nottingham Forest sidelines. The midfielder resumed his playing career in a behind-closed-doors friendly against Alfreton Town at the Academy yesterday.
He played for 45 minutes as all members of Sean O’Driscoll’s squad had a run-out and helped The Reds to a 4-1 win.
Cohen had been unavailable since suffering a serious knee ligament injury against Derby at The City Ground in September of last year.
And he told us: “It was amazing to play again. I’ve been back in training for a while but there’s no substitute for a match situation.
“I’ve been out for a long time but everything felt fine. The knee felt a little bit sore afterwards but that’s to be expected.
“I’ll be able to train today, rest up tomorrow and hopefully be involved in the other games over the next week or so.
“I was more nervous about whether or not I could still kick the ball properly rather than how my knee would stand up to the test.
“But I saw quite a lot of the ball and felt really comfortable.”
