Crystal Palace Preview

27 December 2012

Nottingham Forest will begin life after Sean O’Driscoll when they face Crystal Palace on Saturday (kick-off 3pm) in their final home game of 2012.

The Reds parted company with O’Driscoll on Wednesday, just hours after they had beaten Leeds 4-2 at The City Ground.

It remains to be seen whether a new manager will be in place in time for the visit of Palace as Forest look to end the year with a positive result.

Palace have been one of the surprise packages of the Championship season so far, although their form has taken a dip in recent weeks and they have claimed just one win from their last seven games.

Daniel Ayala is available for selection again after missing the visit of Leeds through suspension following his sending-off against Watford.

Sam Hutchinson (knee) and Jermaine Jenas (calf) remain unavailable.

Palace will be without defender Damien Delaney who is serving a three-match ban.

Forest – 19th
Palace – 17th

Neil Shipperley

Neil Shipperley made a bigger impact at Selhurst Park than he did at The City Ground, where he spent just one season.

The striker checked-in on Trentside after Forest had secured promotion to the Premier League in 1998.

But The Reds’ top-flight stay proved short-lived and Shipperley scored just once in 20 league appearances.

He joined Forest from Palace, where he had scored 20 goals in 61 league appearances, and he went back there after spells with Barnsley and Wimbledon.

Shipperley scored eight more goals in 41 league appearances before winding down his career with Sheffield United and Brentford.

Forest wins over Palace: 27 (23 League; 1 FA Cup; 3 League Cup)
Palace wins over Forest: 16 (13 League; 3 FA Cup)
Draws: 18 (13 League; 2 FA Cup; 3 League Cup)
