Support for new parents

Becoming a mum or dad for the first time can be hard. Bulwell Community Toy Library offer a range of services to help, including regular play sessions just for babies, giving parents the chance to meet other new parents and carers. Plus, one-to-one support from their experienced staff in the comfort of your own home if you’d like a little extra help.

Worried about a child who isn’t talking?

If you’re a parent, carer or professional with concerns about a child –‘Through Toys and Play service’ could be the answer. It’s been running for over 10 years and uses play to encourage children to talk and communicate, especially those with mild speech and language difficulties. Their approach, which includes experienced staff working with families in their own homes, has proved highly successful and includes showing parents and carers how to use play to help with their child’s development.

Outdoor fun – get active!

The play workers run informal play sessions at selected local parks on Saturdays, after school and during the holidays, with the aim of encouraging children to get outside and play – in a safe, natural, healthy environment. Children aged from 5 to 13 years are very welcome to join in, for a great way to get some exercise, make new friends and enjoy their local park.
