Sean O’Driscoll has revealed that his admiration for Lewis McGugan extends to trying to sign the Nottingham Forest midfielder!McGugan, striving to impress the new Forest boss, scored twice when he came off the bench in Saturday’s confidence-injecting 3-1 victory over Premier League Aston Villa at The City Ground.
And O’Driscoll revealed: “I’m a big fan of Lewis - in fact I’ve tried to take him on loan from Forest many times while I was at Doncaster.
“When I came in and told him about it, I said ‘You keep falling out with managers’ and he said: ‘No, they fall out with me’.
“He just needs to tidy up his game and then he’ll get the opportunity to do the things he wants to do and he will go from strength to strength. Some times his goals hide the fact that he does things that he needs to improve on.
“But I thought he came into the team last season and was excellent.”
Now McGugan waits to see whether he gets a chance from the start in Tuesday night’s friendly against city neighbours Notts County at Meadow Lane.
