Daniel Ayala may return to the Nottingham Forest squad for tonight’s Championship meeting with Bolton at The Reebok Stadium (kick-off 7.45pm).The Spanish Under 21 international, who is a on a season-long loan with Forest from Norwich, has missed two games with a hip injury.
But he resumed training yesterday and stands a chance of being involved in manager Sean O’Driscoll’s plans.
He said: “Daniel Ayala has been out training and, touch wood, if he trains today he could come back into the squad but everybody else is okay.”
Tonight’s game at The Reebok Stadium will represent a first league meeting between the two sides in more than a decade.
And O’Driscoll believes that Owen Coyle’s Bolton, relegated from the Premier League last season, will be among the front-runners in the Championship this term.
He said: “From a financial point of view they are one of the strongest sides in the division because they’ve got the parachute payment and have been a Premier Division club for what seems like forever, although I bet they don’t think that.
“They will have the wherewithal to try and bounce straight back and Owen has kept the vast majority of his squad, which is credit I suppose to the way Bolton have been run in the past.
“If you were betting man, which many in football aren’t because it’s so unpredictable, you would have to say that the three relegated sides will be there or thereabouts."
