Simon Gillett has revealed that the chance to join Forest was too good to turn down. The former Doncaster man signed a contract at The City Ground this morning and told Forest Player that, while renewing acquaintances with manager Sean O'Driscoll was a huge factor in his decision, there were other reasons he was delighted to join The Reds.
"The club speaks for itself really." he said. "It's a great stadium, great fans and great history. But the manager played a massively important part for me as well - I know how he works and I feel he can get the best out of me."
Having run-out his contract at Rovers, the midfielder was happy to wait in order to find the right club for him- something he is confident he has now achieved.
"My contract came to an end [at Doncaster] and I've been looking for a club and biding my time since then. This fantastic opportunity came up and I couldn't look back."
The ex-Southampton man - who knows David McGoldrick, Dan Harding and Dexter Blackstock from his time at St Mary's - signed on the dotted line in time for this afternoon's friendly at home to Aston Villa.
"I'm absolutely delighted to get it all done and dusted." he said. "I had my medical this morning and I'm just delighted to be here at what is a great stadium. I couldn't be happier."
