Nottingham Forest's new owners, the Al Hasawi family, today pledged their continued commitment to the funding of Forest Ladies. It had been reported in the media that the club faced a battle for survival due to a £10,000 shortfall in funding.
But those fears have been allayed after Nottingham Forest Chairman Omar Al Hasawi spelt out that The Reds remain as committed as ever to the ladies team.
Not only will Forest continue to fund Forest Ladies but it has also been revealed that one of the Al Hasawi family's firms will become their shirt sponsors.
Omar Al Hasawi said: "Forest Ladies is very much a part of the Nottingham Forest community that we are proud to have become a part of.
"We recognise the growing standing of the women's game - as underlined by the excellent progress of the Great Britain team at the Olympics - and we are committed to the on-going funding of Forest Ladies."
